Unlike virtually any other piece on here, this meat serving board is finished with a very coarse grit sandpaper to give it a bit more character and for it to be abused with a steak knife, like a viking tearing apart some ribs. A great way to eat a big juicy steak with a side of asparagus.
Walnut is characterized by the rich dark hues in the heartwood and its golden coloration in its sapwood, sometimes also with subtle undertones of purple, whereas cherry is notable for its orange to fiery red heartwood and paler, more yellow sapwood. In terms of hardness, walnut is harder than cherry. Cherry and walnut have a rich history in furniture making.
